Della vs Dialpad

By the Della AI team · Updated

Dialpad is an AI-powered cloud phone system and contact center. Its Sell plans add Real-time Assist cards that admins and sales managers build around trigger keywords. Della is an AI sales coach where live objection handling is the core product, with answers built from your own script and recorded calls, and every call scored.

Who each tool is for

Dialpad is for: Companies that want one vendor for their business phone system, meetings, messaging, contact center and sales calling. Dialpad sells four product lines: Connect (business communications), Support (contact center), Sell (outbound sales) and Resolve (AI agents for voice and digital interactions). Sales teams that already run their phones on Dialpad, or want to, can add real-time coaching by choosing a higher Sell tier.

Della is for: Sales teams of 5 or more sales reps who sell on the phone (cold calling, appointment setting, inside sales) and want the best answer to an objection on screen during the call, every call scored, and practice on their real objections, without a manager writing a card for each one. Della is a coaching layer for the sales floor, not a company-wide phone system.

What Dialpad does

Dialpad describes itself as an “Agentic AI-Powered Contact Center & Communications” company and its platform as “one AI platform for every conversation, workflow, and channel.” Its plans cover HD calls and meetings, messaging, real-time transcripts and AI Recaps (call summaries and action items), contact center routing, a power dialer, local presence dialing and voicemail drop (Reach Booster), CRM integrations such as Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho, and AI agents.

For sales, Dialpad Sell is its “sales outbound solution with real-time AI coaching.” Live help comes from Real-time Assist cards, which Dialpad now also calls AI Live Coach Cards: “keyword-triggered pop-ups that appear on an agent's screen during a live call” showing notes, talking points or step-by-step guidance. Dialpad's site says “admins can build and customize cards for any topic,” with triggers based on what the rep says, what the customer says, or both, and its sales assistant page says “sales managers can create custom sales battle cards” that pop up on words like a competitor's name or pricing. Cards can be applied to several teams at once.

AI Playbooks are real-time, AI-guided checklists for a sales methodology (Dialpad lists BANT, SPIN, MEDDIC, Challenger and SPICED, or a custom playbook built from templates or your own topics). Dialpad AI checks off steps as the rep covers them and flags missed steps, and coaches and supervisors track adherence. AI Scorecards “automatically grade every conversation against your pre-determined quality metrics.” Managers can also Listen In, Barge In and Take Over on calls. AI role-play practice is not described as a native Dialpad feature; Dialpad's app marketplace lists third-party role-play apps.

What Della does

Della AI is an AI sales coach with live objection handling for sales teams of 5 or more sales reps. It has two parts, and every plan includes automatic call scoring.

Della Live (real-time objection handling) listens to the call and, when a prospect objects, puts the best answer on the rep's screen while the prospect is still talking. It is the core of the product, not a feature in a higher tier. See how AI tells reps what to say on live calls.

Where the answers come from: your team's own script and recorded calls, which you upload in the Della dashboard. Della learns your objections and best answers, and the Della team sets it up in about a day, so managers don't hand-build a card for every objection. To change an answer, edit it in your Sales Script page, and every rep has it on their next call.

Della Practice (AI role-play) gives reps an AI voice prospect to rehearse the objections your team hears on real calls, and every session is scored.

Della includes a built-in dialer with auto-dialing and a skip button, and Della Live works on dialers and phone calls. Already have a dialer? Tell us which one and we'll confirm whether Della can work with it; see how Della works with your dialer.

Dialpad details from its own website, read on October 24, 2026. We make Della, so weigh this page accordingly.

Who should pick Dialpad instead

  • You want one vendor for your whole phone system: business numbers, calls, meetings and messaging for the entire company, not just the sales team.
  • You run a contact center or support team as well as sales, and want routing, quality management and workforce management on the same platform.
  • Your reps mainly need a power dialer, local presence dialing, voicemail drop and CRM logging, and live keyword cards your admins maintain are enough coaching.
  • You want a low entry price per user and are happy to build and keep Real-time Assist cards and playbooks up to date yourself.

Who should pick Della

  • Your team already has phones and a way to dial, and what you are missing is the right answer at the moment a prospect objects.
  • You want live answers built from your own script and recorded calls, set up for you in about a day, instead of managers writing a card and trigger list for every objection.
  • You want every call scored automatically on every plan, plus AI role-play on the objections your reps actually hear.
  • You run a sales team of 5 or more sales reps and want published per-seat prices, a 7-day free trial and the option to buy online without a sales call (code DELLA takes 25% off the first month).

How to decide

Start with the problem you are solving. If you are choosing a phone system or contact center for the whole company, Dialpad is built for that, and its higher Sell and Support tiers add real-time cards, playbooks and scorecards on top. If your phones already work and reps lose calls at ‘not interested’, ‘send me an email’ or ‘we already have someone’, look at a tool where live objection handling is the product.

Then ask who will do the work. With keyword-triggered cards, someone has to write each card, choose its triggers and keep it current as objections change. Della starts from the script and recorded calls you upload, and a change made once in your Sales Script page reaches every rep on their next call. Compare the full monthly cost for your team size, too: for Dialpad, the tier that includes the features you need; for Della, the plan on our pricing page.

Can I use Della if my team already uses Dialpad?

Della includes a built-in dialer with auto-dialing and a skip button, and Della Live works on dialers and phone calls. Already have a dialer? Tell us which one and we'll confirm whether Della can work with it.

Who should pick Dialpad over Della?

Companies that want one vendor for their whole phone system and contact center, with calls, meetings, messaging, routing and a power dialer, and that are happy for admins to build and maintain real-time assist cards themselves.
